Can you bend 3D text?

Don't think you can but hey, why not ask, I thought...?

If you had some 3D text could you curve in a way that it might be on the outside of a cylinder?

Cheers

Create a circular 3D path and connect the 3D text to it.

This should make the 3D text bend around the path.

The other option is to place a deform node (lattice) around the 3D text and shape the geometry.

Thanks Grant,

As far as I can see 3D Path only changes the position of the characters and doesn't actually bend the text.

I should have explained better, I was looking for text written length ways along a tube so it need to bend around the x axis of the text to match the cylinder.

I had actually tried Deform, but very quickly and so completely forgot to increase (or decrease? 🙂 ) the resolution.

It broke up quite badly so I thought it wasn't designed for text. But changing the resolution to 7 give fantasic results.

Thanks again!

No problem.

Just so that you know for next time, the resolution slider works on a ratio.   So having it set to 10 will give you a 10:1 pixel ratio that means it will fill in a pixel every 10 frames.   It can be considered as a way to speed up interactivity or decreae processing times if it visually is not an issue.

Setting the resolution to 1 means that the pixel ratio is 1:1 so it will create every single pixel hence better quality and longer processing times.

But I agree that on the surface the slider seems weird to use.  But once you know, it should be fine..
