Adding a border to a wipe

I added a wipe transition and selected a preset wipe. I would like to add a solid colored border around the transition. For example, if I use a star wipe or a left to right wipe, I would like to add a thin black line around the wipe for separation.

I am using Flame Assist 2015.

Hi VK,

Its been a seriously long time since someone asked me to do that.

Anyway, to answer your question, there is no border option in the wipe tools.  Its only edge softening.

You only other option is to create the wipe and offset with it a solid colour to fake a border that you are after.

Sorry cant be more help with this.

Regards

Grant

add the wipe to a black layer

add the wipe to your incoming

offset the time or the amount of transition for these two versions of the same transition

you will end up with a black border sandwiched in your transition

replace the black layer with colour if you want colour

rinse

repeat

I'm not completely following....Are you saying my top layer should have a black video source with a cut in the middle that aligns with my actual video transition? Duplicate the wipe and offset? I'm trying some variations of this and I can only see one layer in the transition.

and of course you could generate a matte from this same wipe and use matte edges to get a matte for borders...

and there's probably a matchbox tool

and there's almost definitely a spark

and there's probably a way to do it with particles but life is too short to find out how...
