Show the name of the Active Component prominently

It's all too easy to create a sketch or body in the wrong component. The reason is that the user has only a small dot to show which is the active component. There needs to be a better way to display which component is active.

The suggestion is to display the Name of the Active Component at the top of the screen, just below the File Name (ie the Assembly Holder).

That way the user can clearly see what the filename (Assembly) is being used and what Component is Active.

It also encourages best practice for beginners to create a New Component, instead of starting with a Sketch and a New Body in the main Assembly hierarchy.

Hi, @martin_glass
Yes, I also face that problem. But one trick is when when you see all your components are in right color or appearance, it is sure that you are working on the parent component.
So be careful to look at it.

Thank you.

Thanks. That’s a good point, but it’s not going to work if there is only component.

It’s all too easy for a beginner to create a component and somewhere along the line activate the main assembly for something and forget to re-activate the component again. The user then ends up with sketches and bodies outside the component and it starts to mess up.

Much better to have it clearly stated what component/assembly is active.

I believe this is a very fundamental communication error, which is not solved by the current highlighting visuals you rightly mention.
