Sketching in 3D

As far as I can tell, Fusion 360 currently only allows for sketches on a plane. However, sometimes curves, for example to control extrusions as for the chair in the picture linked below, really need to be in 3D space.

Is there already a way to create path extrusions like that example in Fusion today that I have not found yet?

Thanks,

Hey Cschormann, you can in fact sketch in 3D in Fusion 360. We have it turned off by default, but you can turn it on by going to the preferences menu under your name in the top right corner of the software UI.

Inside Preferences, go into General > Design > and toggle Allow 3D sketching of lines and splines on.

Here is a screenshot of what you should see. Let me know if this helps!

Is it possible to fillet or chamfer 3d curves?

You're not able to fillet or chamfer 3D sketch curves at this time.  Whatever 3d models you create though from the sketch of course can be directly manipulated.

Best,

Mike
