Revamp how sketch constraints are displayed

Revamp how sketch constraints are displayed

Sometimes when working on sketches, especially mirrored ones, the sketch constraints get in the way.

It would be awesome if we could hide them.

It would also be neat if we could make it so when a sketch element is selected it shows only associated sketch constraints. That would make the sketch constraints much more useful in general!

It'd be great to find a way to represent them without the need for hiding (I'm not sure how that'd work but maybe color-blind safe annotations on the lines, themselves).

Easy way to do it would be to have a panel that could be collapsible and would allow the following options:

Dropdown menu called "Constraint Scope visibility":

  • None
  • Sketch constraints
  • Body constraints
  • Drawing constraints

Followed by each constraint type and a checkbox, so we could select which ones we want to see and which ones we don't.

And to allow a quick visual aid as to whether a line had constraints attached, add a visual icon to the line when select that had a number in front with the number of constraints. When clicked should open a line constraints panel with all line constraints that could be deleted or new ones added.

This is a good idea and I have placed it in our backlog.  Once development work starts on this I will change it to accepted.

Thank you,

Hi Luke!

We are starting to look into a solution for messy sketches. I will keep you posted as we develop a solution.

Thanks for your feedback.
