Orbit view around selection

Orbit view around selection

I'd like an option to have the view orbit around the currently selected entity (body, line, point), the way it works in 3DS Max.

This is a very good idea, but maybe it should be integrated into the existing orbit tool.  Specifically, I've never had issues in Inventor or SolidWorks with the center of orbit coinciding with the center of selection or the center of the part/assembly... in Fusion the center of orbit sometimes picks a random spot far out in space and I have to select something different in order to reset it.

In assemblies though I can see how having a specific 'orbit selected' command or option would be useful, particularly when using varied zoom.

I use Inventor all day at work and think this would be a great addition to Fusion.

In Inventor I can select an object (or face, edge, vertex, sketch line, etc. ), (possibly hit escape,) then shift middle click to orbit and it orbits around the centre of the most recent selection.

I've just started using Fusion at home and it seems hard to pick a "nice" pivot with the current behaviour since it can only be on a surface.

Thank you for your idea, we have made and continue to make improvements to our orbit function.  This idea is getting archived due to the nature of the request to make it the same as another program that is inherently different that what we have been building.  I hope the improvements that have been made since your post have improved your experience.

Regards,
