node based parametric modeling tool

node based parametric modeling tool

Hi

probably this a crazy request.

Many software work with nodes.

We can connect them and have an output.

We can add formulas and transform the geometry.

We can create organic forms and patterns.

I see that Fusion360 support scripts, but scripting is a nightmare for the people who don't know anything about syntax programming.

Node programming is more visual and creative.

regards

Check out Project Dynamo: http://autodeskvasari.com/dynamo

There isn't a direct tie in for Fusion at this time but we can import the dumb solids it creates.

Best,

thank you!

I dind't know about Dynamo project.

Unfortunately I don't use Revit.

I sometimes get very nervous around node-based modeling. I Have Houdini on my machine and every time I think about opening it I have to go get a coffee!

As far as I know, Houdini is the only node based parametric 3d program out there. It's mostly used for it's special Fx in movies but it's an interesting modeler. Check it out If you want to have a look-see at how it's node based modeling works. I don't know if you're familiar with it but it's free to play with should you feel adventurous 😉

It would be an interesting addition for sure if done right.

Here's a YT vid which gives a good look at the node system at work

Grasshopper in Rhino offers what you are looking for. It is a pretty nice idea and workflow for building not typical designs.

But I doubt they might import this function into Fusion. I am not sure howfar the script engine would do this while I hate scripting.

All my CG applications also use nodes fro modeling and texturing / rendering compositing. That workflow is really great for designers.

Blender has a node based add-on but well it is only poly based.

It would be great Dynamo connected with F360. All the last releases after Dynamo was merged with DesignScript (0.7.X) are really interesting.

By the way these are the sites related:

http://dynamobim.org/

https://github.com/DynamoDS/Dynamo

(note: would it make sense to leave the request of Dynamo for Fusion360 here or maybe will it be better to open a new one?)

Another great tool to look for inspiration from is Matt Keeters Antimony. A key feature would be if all the node scripts where editable with code!
