Move files between projects

Move files between projects

I seem to be unable to move files between projects. I am still green with this, but I have a few projects setup that I have been practicing with. Just to get to kow the software. I have been modeling basically the same part and sometimes going through to CAM. Sometimes I will only want a model or a rendering for my website. I would like to keep those projects seperate, but use parts from existing projects. Sometimes with the same name.

I have no need for rendered drawings of my parts in with the CAM side and vice versa.

Also I would like to have the ability to actually delete these prtojects that I am working with for training.

I only found a place to deactivate it. Once I learn what I need to, there is zero reason to keep it.

Here's how you move files form the dashboard. Can't see any way to delete projects though.

We are builting an automated tool to move items and their activity from one project to another.

I'll update here once I have a better idea when this will be complete. It should be in the next update or two.

Really wanting this feature (is it a feature?)

Currently, if I've been working on some file, and saved it in directory I made, I can't then move it into any shared folder, only other directories I've made myself. This makes it really hard to share .

Also, I can't even create a copy of a file into all other directories. Some are simply not showing, and definitely none of my shared folders are showing if the file currently resided in a private folder..  Quite counter intuitive!

Also, simple drag and drop would be nice between folders. It would make sharing a lot more straight forward!

Cheers,

Niels

I would like to have the children of a design move together with the linked parent.

Hi there,

I would like to agree!! It might be nice to Collaborate with others and the Cloud has much advantages,  but it must be possible to arrange the work better. To move files between projects, it works just once a wile and not with more then one file properly. After working and testing just for quick solutions and ideas you might design good and bad solutions. After a wile it needs to set up the folders properly and you might want to rename and sort the data. This works really bad at  the moment. So it would be nice to get some more freedom in the organization of files between folders.

thanks and good luck ...i love your work so far.

This is not a direct extension of this feature request, but I've noticed that some files can be moved only within projects, and some can be moved between projects... not sure what differentiates why the files in the data panel behave differently.

The work-around is to open the file I want to move to a different project, and then save it into that project and delete the original instance in the prior project... which is inelegant but does work.

Hi there, moving files is specially bad when you work with drawings which are linked to the 3d-File.

For me there is no way to move the two files into another project-folder?

This is really necessary, specially if you are working with other people. You will have your own workspace for trying things. If it is ok, you post it to a projec-tfolder where your group has an ownership.

After all (and i know quite a lot progs), fusion is a really great software. But the filesystem specially in the (mainly prermanent Cloud) ist really to bad for company work. People like the work in the cloud with others, but in the end they want to have there work saved on an save place at home. Therefore, a good file transfer with Projects and groups to all places i want (at my PC) is a absolute hight goal to go. This is really important if you want have success with fusion.
