I don't know why this annoys me so much but I have zero use for the activity feed yet I can't find a way to get rid of it so docked or undocked it's constantly wasting screen real estate and adding nothing.
There should be a View -> Hide Activity Feed menu item.
The activity feed is detachable from the standard bottom left dock so until the next update comes out you could just move it to another quadrant where it is not in your war as much.
