Converting splines to polylines

Converting splines to polylines

Exporting DXFs should allow for a blanket conversion of splines to polylines.  It would probably be best to have a global preference that can be set, or have a dialog that comes up when exporting DXFs from sketches.

The reasoning behind it is: Some laser cutters do not work with splines.  Right now we need to open the DXF in another product in order to do the conversion.

Hi ,

I have produced an app that can convert spline to polyline in the DXF. Because it is a challenge to find a great algorism that can convert spline to connected arcs, in this version, the app converts to connect lines. It can allow you to specify the precision (number of line segments). hope it helps a bit.

The app is available at Exchange Store of Autodesk now. If you are interested in extend the app, the source code is also available.

While the extension solves the immediate problem we should consider adding this to Fusion export options for DXF.

Adding this to the backlog.  Release date TBD.

4 Years later... Any update on this?  No options for "OUTPUT DXF" in Drawing mode to allow for convert splines to polylines.

Using the initial sketch is not an idea situation for exporting, especially if the assembly alters the design after the initial sketch has been made.
