I've found that very often spending just ~5-10 minutes talking with a manufacturer about something will save countless hours of redesign or much more complicated (and expensive) tooling.
This is probably at least a semi-duplicate suggestion, but It'd be great (especially for hobbiests and start-ups) if there were a simple way to share a lot of that knowledge and to have people with manufacturing experience comment on designs and suggest alternatives to improve manufacturability.
