Completely new take

Here is what I would love to use freewheel for:

We have thousands of details created over time. I can tag those details with descriptions, which are now searchable with any desktop search tool, and even 'previewable' but I like the ability to quickly zoom and pan a preview without opening a file. To accomplish this functionality, Freewheel would have to work with DWGs, not just DWFs, and it would have to be able to work on a private network. Once we could do that, I would like to see Autodesk distribute a separate search app using freewheel functionality to help us find our details. I know this isn't quite what freewheel was meant to do, but it is something that I think would be useful to a lot of people.

You might want to check out http://www.docupoint.com/ since it is DWG-based.
