John –
FMDesktop for spaces is a two part primary key. So Properties | Space cannot be duplicated across building / floors in the same property.
I see some clients who list each building as a property so as long as spaces do not duplicate on floors of the same building that works. If you have a large amount of buildings or want to track by Properties / Campuses they that will not work for you.
The next option I see most commonly is that the building code is appended to the space name, so for example Webb Building would become WB-101, WB-102, etc…. Some clients use a number each building 13-101, 13-102, etc…
If you use that format and on reports you produce in FMDesktop you can also use the Common Name field to go back to just the space number and print reports using just the space number, but all tracking, attachment of data, equipment, occupants will be to the Building – Space number you created.
