FM reviews of AU 2005?

Any feedback from FM'ers who attended AU 2005?

We expanded the FM track considerably and any feedback you can provide for me would be helpful in planning next year's event (at the Venetian in Las Vegas, by the way).

Speakers you liked? Didn't like?
Topics you would like to see covered?

I enjoyed Bob Fahlin's presentation. Anything and everything you can provide about the FM Desktop suite would be very much appreciated in 2006.

yes, I'd like to see some hands-on classes for fm desktop so users could get
an in-depth testdrive... but, I would suggest MOST continuing the courses
that are based on practice (such as the IFMA/BOMA standards class, exporting
data to other programs [or perhaps even a course on working with files
created by outside contractors] etc), since not too many facilities will
have yet jumped on board with the new software.

There will be a few sessions that include FMDesktop this year. If you really want to get a look at it, watch for a 3 hour hands-on lab session on FMDesktop led by Bob Fahlin. (Bob was the original developer of FMDesktop and is now the lead Product Designer for it at Autodesk.) Watch for registration to open soon because the lab sessions have limited capacity and I expect this one to fill up fast.

There are some "practice related" sessions too. One will be focused on the CAD standards issue. And one that I am excited to see is a panel discussion on implementation issues for FM applications. We've convinced several solid implementation consultants with experience from huge to small implementations to share some of their best practices and tips. That will be a good place to ask those tough questions.

Stay tuned as we are trying to organize some FM-specific social time too.

Wow... sounds like another good line up this year, thanks for the update. 🙂
I'm going to do my best to sign up for that lab with Bob, I wouldn't mind
some time behind the wheel... and hopefully I'll get to meet some
experienced FMD users and pick their brains a little.

That panel discussion sounds potentially very valuable (although we could
spend the whole time talking about ROI and getting entrenched management to
support the change in the first place 😉 )...

have a good one... 🙂
