Equipments management

Hello all,

My job is to monitoring all the building and equipments in the company plants in various country around the globe. I am looking for a couples a suggestions for that. I have start my own standards systems for my drawings, and we have our own document managing software (so no archibus here) What do you use other than archibus for managing equipments ? Do you use excel or access database link with autocad objets ? Also, anyone of you use a annuel survey system to check if there was some work done in a plant during last year ? If so do you use somekind of automatic correspondance to send drawing trough the mail software (i use lotus note) Every answers is welcome, cause right now we are in the process of finalizing our equipments and drawings management.

We use a product called MP2 by Datastream
http://www.datastream.net/english/products/mp2.aspx
It is kept on a server and maintained by a programming guru in our
department, so I'm not all that familiar with it's workings.

They started out inputting every piece of data they could get their hands on
from paper manuals and logs and have scheduled maintenance and replacement
on all equipment. This database is also tied in with the workorder database,
so when something is repaired, entries are changed in the equipment log.
(After a work order is issued, it is 'checked out' by a mechanic, who types
in the resolution, keeping everything up to date)

I have a document database in access linked to dwg's (or referencing hard
copies, which are slowly being scanned as pdf's).

Good luck!

Oh, another thought, I have come across this blog that posts about different types of Maintainence software applications. I don't think it goes very in depth, but, there is loads of content and is updated regularly.

Iaelic,

What drawings do you use to maintain your equipment? Electrical schematics? HVAC layout drawings? Single line plumbing? Double line plumbing?

Are you managing drawings for your process equipment? For your facility systems that support the shop floor equipment?

What would you like to accomplish by attching database information to the drawing entities?

We love to hear what you need.

Hi, ok i will try to give a little description.

The drawings are showing building and equipments in them (production equipments, compressors, HVAC and much more) My goal is to link those equipments with a master database, something like DB connect, to make equipments data appear on spreadsheet, and to have a better facility to manage them. I have heard about DB connect, some peoples recommend it, other don't. My question was to have an idea of what the majority of peoples use in this case, excel, access or any other program to manage equipements. I would prefer something with excel, and if anyone have a little example a such thing, is it possible to send some screenshot just to give me some ideas. Or if you have any other suggestions, i am open to anything.

Thank you for taking the time to share these details. This is very helpful for us in planning future features. Your goals are similar to several other customers I have spoken with recently.

If you are in the U.S., you might look at Autodesk FMDesktop. It will allow you to link some equipment in your drawings to it's own Access database. You can add your own fields to the equipment and add your own reports to the database.
