Flame Learning edition question

Can i load Flame Learning edition onto a mac that has a fully licenced desktop subscription for Smoke 2017?

The install instructions only mention it not working with other fully licenced Flame family products, and i'm not sure if Smoke is classed as a Flame Family member or if its just the weird little cousin that nobody ever mentions!

thanks

Adam

Hi Adam,

The answer is no.

Commercial and training versions cannot be installed on the same system drive.

This restriction applies to the Flame Family applications and to Smoke.

Please let us know if you have any other questions,

oh yes...i do have another question...

I was going to try Flame on the mac laptop, and when running that machine i usually use an external hdd. This drive already has a folder called Autodesk MediaStorage - is it ok to continue using this drive, or will that cause problems?

can the different applications all access the contents of this folder or not? Would i be better off by reformatting the drive before trying the learning edition?

Hi Adam,

There is no issue about using the external hdd per se but I would suggest to set the storage location to a different directory / folder on your hdd for your training application.

For instance, you can set the Flame training storage location on the hdd in Autodesk MediaStorage/[Flame training dedicated directory].

The Flame training and Smoke media databases are not compatible so it is safer to have them located in different directories so one will not affect to other.

Please let me know if it answers your question,
