Basic workflow question

Hi folks,

Simple thing hopefully...

I want change some details on a clock. I would expect to sample a BGND colour from the clock and stick it on a second layer. Then add text to this layer and crop around it using axis to see the rest of the clock. So I'd end up with a rectangle of colour covering wrong info and new text with the correct info on.

Maybe there's an easier way on Smoke? While in Title or Axis I can't flick to the BGND to align my text and crop or to sample the colour of the text.

I tried addind a 50% transparency with axis, this only shows in Context mode and becomes insufferably slow, so I can't drag text into position.

Also could see how to sample text.

What's the best way to approach this simple correction?

Hello,

Sometimes Action is a better solution than timeline layering.

Or promote your layers from the timeline into BFX and use Action in that pipeline.

Makes sense, I'll go the Batch route.

Just thought I might be missing an obvious piece of knowledge.
