A question about Compositing with Stabilized Perspective Grids Tutorial

Hi Grant,

in the tutorial

Compositing with Stabilized Perspective Grids – Part 1 - Flame Premium 2015 Ext 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1xEjsAeSyg

you used overscan to include all the pixels of the image.  What I'm stabilizing is smaller than the tutorial.   And my over scan maxes out at 427%, which puts the Action at 8192x4608.  Since I can not get all the pixels, it is not inverting correctly with the duplicated node.

Any advice?

Hi Brooks,

Flame maxes out at 8K and that's what the overscan does not go above 427% in your case.

It sounds like your stabilising the entire frame. It is a better approach to stabilise just the section you want to fix and recompose it back on to the original plate by duplicating the Action node, connect the original background image, use media input 1 for your corrected section, and invert the perspective grid in the new action to de-stabilise the the repaired area of the image. Theoretically it should just drop back into place.

You should only need to use the overscan to include more the area you are stabilising if you need it.

Let me know if this helps.

Grant
