Problem with TriangulateMesh

Hi,

I'm using TriangulateMesh function on a letter 'T' mesh that consists of 1 polygon, and I expected the outcome to have the same shape as the input. Unfortunately, the output of TriangulateMesh function came out totaly wrong (please see attachment).

If you notice the attachment, there are extra edges that fall outside the letter T shape, and so, the output looks nothing like the input. I also tried Triangulate InPlace and got the same result.

Is there a workaround for this problem? or is it an FBX TriangulateMesh limitation?

Thank you.

Hi Khalid,

I just verified that it is a defect in the function TriangulateMesh in FBX SDK.
It seems it can not handle convex polygons.

Thank you for your feeedback about this issue, I will log a bug in our database and try to fix it in the next release.

Another bug which still made it to 2010.0.2 :(

Can you please let me know if there is a workaround?

Thanks for your help.

The fix was non-trivial and needed soak time, it did not make into 2010.0.2 or 2010.2. We have lived with it for a while now and confirm it will be in the next release.

This issue has been addressed in a soon to be released update to the SDK, thanks for your patience.
