3ds max 2017 daylight incorrect in FBX export

light_3ds.pnglight_review_off.pnglight_review_on.png

Image 1: rendered in 3DS Max; Image 2: FBX Export with light off (daylight), Image 3: FBX Export with light on (daylight)

How do I improve the FBX export to display daylight correctly (as in: best image/image 1)?

Thx,

Kevin.

Hello @kbarnettza

Are you trying to export the daylight system to another software or are you reimporting the daylight system to 3ds Max?

1.: In case you want to import the daylight system just into another 3ds Max scene, then I would recommend to use the File > Import > Merge functionality.

2.: In case you need to have this daylight system within another software: This would not work correctly, as the FBX plugin is not supporting the daylight system and will convert this into a point light automatically, as this is a 3ds Max internal system.

In this case, I would recommend to create a direct light instead, as this is supported by the FBX plugin within 3ds Max.

In which other software do you need to export the FBX screen

I hope that is helpful.

Regards,
