Interesting possibilities

Hello there,

Is it possible to implement the use of driven dimension as a valid imput in equations 🙂

I kind of like the idea to be able to use the output of a geometry change without equations,

or use the respective value of the driven dimensions parameter in the rest of the design process.

Cyclical dependencies though might be a real problem if you don´t keep track.

Logos,

I believe that you can already do this.  After you create the driven dimension, open up the Parameters Manager (Table) and rename the reference parameter.  From there you should be able to reference it in equations.  Please let me know if this helps or if I have missed the mark.  Hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,
Pete

Hello Pete,

thanks - I´ll check again! In general I can not confirm this to be possible.

Yet it might apply if used soley on the sketch level.

I added a sketch to an IAM to measure the total extents of the assebly.

The driven value from the projected geometry of the parts I wanted to

use to determine the starting points of the next IAM that was to connect

to the first. Sadly this did not work

In the scenario described was able to use the parameter reference of the

driven value ( e.g. d55) but as a static value only. Changing parts in any

of the IAM´s yet led to a cyclical dependency.

I had to create an equation for all the individual parts in each IAM in or-

der to get the right starting position for the respective next part.

Have a great day too Pete

Thanks!

Daniel
