Restricting save in Ilogic

Hello there,

I would like to restrict te option to save a drawing file as long as

not all the reqired fields in the drawing have been filled in.

Also the possibility to pop up the fields again when you hit the save

button would be nice.

Can this be done via an event trigger ?

Would be glad if you can help me

Kind regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I have checked with the iLogic expert.

You can use an event trigger to run an iLogic rule that would pop up a form (or possibly a standard Inventor dialog) when you save. But the rule would not be able to prevent you from saving the file. However, you could do that with a custom add-in.

As a workaround, the iLogic rule could set the file to read-only until all the required fields are entered. That would work OK in a non-Vault project. But it might not work very well in a Vault project.

I personally think it would be better to allow the save, even without the required fields. That prevents you from losing work. The form will keep popping up to remind you every time you save, until you enter the fields.

By the way, does the required fields depend on Inventor iproperties ?

Thanks,

-Xuesong

Hello Xuesong,

no, it´s not i properties based as it´s purely representational and

physical properties won´t mattter.

You´re right - work could be lost easily, I´m not a fan of this cause

of action eighter.

Would it be possible to mark missing fields in a colour no one can

ever ignore?

Thanks for your help so far

Kind regards

Hi Daniel,

I am not sure if we can mark the missing required fields in color.

I think you can pop up an form which is listing the required fields need to fill in the form. So the field will be read the datas from the form. That is just my recommendation.

Thanks,

Hello Xuesong,

that sounds good. Any recommendations of how to start,

a tutorial perhaps? I don´t know if there´s something on

the net about that... which search terms should I be using?

Kind regards
