linked dwg overlay

I want to add a dwg as overlay but i get the message that the drawing is linked to another 3d Factory layout.

How can i find the 3d Factory layout where the dwg is linked to.

Mvg Jos

Your drawings are only as good as the symbols that complete them...

Hi Jos -

This is based on file name/directory matching.

I suspect you have a matching .iam in the same directory. E.g., xxx.dwg -> xxx.iam.

I have several drawings where the drawing is linked.

So it was possible to link to more drawings.

Why not now, is it new to FDS 2013.

You can do that if you use Add Dwg Overlay (on Suite Workflows dropdown). The dwg/iam are "tied together" when you use Sync Inventor. This is new in 2013.

When i am in FDS i can sync with acad, but when i am in acad i can't find the button Sync to Inventor.

Where is that button hidden?

Or do i have to use acad mechanical?

You should find the Sync to Inventor command prominently displayed on the Factory tab > Suite Workflows panel in both the AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 factory utilities.

Is this ribbon icon not appearing in your installation?

Hi,

Are you using AutoCAD? Factory Design Utilitites only can be applied to AutoCAD Mechanical or AutoCAD Architecture.  -Irene

No sure if it is because the Factory Utilitiets for AutoCAD is not installed well.

could you please try to input the command like FACT_ to check if you can access Factory related command in your AutoCAD?

-Irene

Message 11 of 48

when i input the command Fact i get only 'Fact_Analysis_Report_Format.

It seemed the Factory Utiltiites for AutoCAD is not installed well for your AutoCAD M or AutoCAD A. Then you may have a try to uninstall Factory Utiltiites for AutoCAD from your control panel and re-install it from your Factory Design Suite installer package.

I am sorry for bringing inconvinient to you.

Hi Jos -

Can you tell me whether there's a directory called FactApplication_R19.0.bundle in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins?

Do you have the log file available (in %TEMP%) of the Utilities installation?

Thank you.

But i can't find the log file, i down't no where to look.

Can you specify a directory where to look.

All of the installation log files are kept in %TEMP% (you can just type this into your Explorer address bar). If you sort by Modified Date, you can see the most recent ones, and hopefully identify the Factory Design Utilities items.

If you have that directory, and it's not empty, then it seems that the Utilities are installed.

One thing you can try: reset your profile -- this can sometimes resolve issues like this, as long as the installation is actually in place.

Thanks,

  Jeff

Hmm. I don't see any in there. They would have something like "Factory Design Utilities for AutoCAD" in the name. Let's not worry about that for now, I guess.

Can you tell me what files/directories are underneath the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins diretory I mentioned earlier?

And did you try to reset the profile? Did that make any difference?

If you run CUI command, and go to Partial Customization Files, do you see FACTAPPLICATION.CUIX listed?

Thanks,

  Jeff

I have a strange problem.
I have two login options.
I can log onto the server and log in directly to my PC.
If I log into the server and open acad i see no Factory in the ribbon and no cuix file.
When I log into my PC and turn on acad I see factory in the ribbon and  in my  cuix.
I do not know how this comes, do you have a suggestion?

Hi Jos -

I'm not really understanding.

Are the server and your PC 2 different machines?

Or are you using Remote Desktop from the server, and accessing your PC?

Thanks,

  Jeff
