Layers

Hello there,

I´s like to ask some questions about layers in FDS2014.

As it seems even when assigning them to objects in a FDS layout,

they won´t be acessible in the idw or dwg file corresponding to

the assembly. Do I miss something (again) or is this just not the

way it´s meant to be?

Apart from that I would like to know if I could include the Layer

definition in my assets already. This would render assigning them

manually lateron unnecessary and would be quite useful.

I would like to use the layers defined in the iam in the idw file.

Is this possible?

Hello Daniel.

The layers cannot be accessible in Inventor IDW or DWG. The layers only can be interoperated between Factory Inventor assembly and AutoCAD dwg.

And the layer definition cannot be included in the asset. That only is assigned to asset in the factory Inventor layout.

Hello everyone, 

I saw this post and I have one doubt.

I know that in the 2016 version it is possible to asign a layer when publishing the asset. Do you know if it is still not possible to use this layers in the Inventor idw and dwg?

So far not working in Inventor drawing even though in 2016. The Layer only works in AutoCAD DWG and Inventor 3D layout which means the layer color can be applied to 3D asset in FDS 2016 Feature Update Pack aka R2.

Is there really no function to show my layers in the IDW drawing? Is there any Workaround?

It should be an significant feature! Imagine you have a drawing on the construction site and anything is black. Details, sectional views, side views and so on.

So far, we don't have the capacity of showing the layers in Inventor drawing now.

Could you please log the requirement in the FDS IdeaSation?
