Installing FDS on my new computer

My previous computer took a turn for the worst and was forced to get a new machine. Will there be any challenges installing FDS on the new machine? This is a mobile work staion so it will  be on the road with me as well, will the changing IP address bean issue?

Just want to make sure I avoid any potential issues with the installation bein that I only have the one seat. Thanks.

Hi there,

Just go ahead with FDS in your new machines.

While, you need to apply the latest service packs in your FDS.And don't forget to copy the users library assets from your old machine.

Thanks,

-Xuesong

Please mark as a solution if somehow I got it right.

I am having issues getting all the programs installed. I get an error, "Installation complete. Some products failed to install" error 1603. What dod I do? I tried to do my own research but most solutions seem confusing.

Hi -

Sorry you're having problems.

To diagnose installation problems, can you find and post FDS-related install log files that you find in your %TEMP% directory?

  Jeff

Hello there,

for the assets... is the harddrive "toast" too? They hardly ever are.

If there is no mechanics failure present you can even change the

logic board to access the data on disk. All you would need in

this case is a same model HDD you can take the logic board from.

I´ve overseen a "operation" like this and it worked with a harddrive

that had fried electric circuits.

If there is no failure with the disc drive present, you just might need

the appropriate adapter. Perhaps a cheap USB 2.0 external drive case

will already do the job. They´re around 20 Euros.

Kind regards

Daniel

From the attached log, I found the install error occurred while installing "DOTNET4SP1", the prerequisite of DwgTrueVeiw2013.

As a workaround, we could install DWGTrueView 2013 from the FDS media (with the command line below) prior to installing FDS 2013.

For example: use below command line to install DwgTrueVeiw 2013 version with MSI Basic UI.

  • For 64bit OS:
    Msiexec.exe /i E:\x64\Components\DWGVIEWER2013\DWGViewr.msi ADSK_SETUP_EXE=1 /qb
  • For 32bit OS:
    Msiexec.exe /i E:\x86\Components\DWGVIEWER2013\DWGViewr.msi ADSK_SETUP_EXE=1 /qb

Thanks,

Eric
