Displaying ACAD Overlay in .iam Model in the .idw for that model

How do I display an externally referenced AutoCAD DWG Overlay for a factory assembly model in the .idw for that model? I am using an externally referenced AutoCAD DWG for all the factory existing geometry which is typically all 2D. The iam will update when the DWG is updated. Now I just need it to be displayed and also updateable in the idw.

Did you try creating a draft view and using the Insert AutoCAD drawing?

If not I think you might need a dummy object onto which you need to insert the DWG to.

You also could convert the DWG to Mass elements and use an IGES export. Both

solutions thus, won´t be updating if you change the DWG file.

Kind regards

I have created an .idw displaying a plan view of the model along with creating a sketch with the AutoCAD drawing inserted into it. I changed the options for DWG Insertion points to be the model origin as well as set the origin in the AutoCAD 2D dwg to the same point for a smooth easy import.

I am not familiar with converting to mass elements.
