3D DWG overlay

Hello there,

to use a 3D DWG as an overlay works fine, yet I would want to render it alongside

the FDS geometry I am using. Is it possible to do this? Would spare me the nuisance

to import the 3D DWG... It´s faulty in most cases and requires extensive amounts of

time.

I´d be glad if it was possible to add display options for the overlay. In raytracing mode

at least unshaded wireframe geometry is shown.

Kind regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The overlay stuff is only the graphic rendering, not the real geometry. So it is not possible to render them along with the FDS.

Thanks,

Please mark as a solution if somehow I got it right.

Hello Xuesong,

thanks for clarifying. The issue has been with objects I needed to convert to

mass elements in ACAD first. The IGES is okay, but some of the bodies could

not be converted. Someone used a non compatible modelling method. Basi-

cally only Navisworks and it´s respective FBX export work flawless. Therefore

I tried to reproduce this conversion with Inventor´s capabilities, yet I´ve not

been successful with this endeavour. Even the DWG overlay fails with those

elements.

I am about to recommend to keep those parts seperate and only combine

them in Navisworks to achieve the maximum visualisation quality for the

process.

Can you recommend another way? I´d be able to send you the sample data

we need to include if you like to.

Kind regards

Daniel
