Scripting: Get Amount of Layers for spec Material

Hey there

for a script i need to know the amount of layers for a selected material, since i i didnt find the right attribute to retrieve the amount direct, i created a loop to iterate over one layerattribute until the value gets nil | 0.

So , i think, with a counter running, i have a good criteria to break the loop and get a proper value

It should get nil when are no more layers to iterate over.

Here s now the point;  the variable contains a couple of more "random" values  until it gets finally zero

Any idea what went wrong?
