need Ecotect user guide / documentation

Typical Autodesk packages, such as Revit, come with thorough user guides.  Ecotect 2011 does not, as far as I know (there are the user guides called "Using Autodesk Ecotect Analysis and Building Information Modeling" and "Standalone Installation Guide and Getting Started with Ecotect Analysis", but these are both 17 pages long and only good for, as their names imply, getting started).  The training modules similarly provide only sketchy, basic information.  And Ecotect 2011's Help feature is woefully inadequate; it is very rarely actually Helpful.

Is there an Ecotect User Guide or any other resources out there that I can use to figure out how to use the software?

You might want to check Ecotect's old website (at archive.org). Here's the direct link: http://web.archive.org/web/20080323045723/squ1.com/products/ecotect

Note that archive.org can be slow at times. So this may not be the ideal solution.

This documentation also appears to be a few years old, but it's still a big improvement - thanks!

Anyone else know of other resources, feel free to chime in.

Hi there,

did you find any better documentation.  I am doing some research on ecotect at uni and can't find anything much helpful.

cheers,

Tom

No, I still haven't found anything very useful.

Ecotect isn't cheap.  You'd think Autodesk would provide the people who obtain it the tools to know how to use it.  Trial and error is no fun.

Luckily I have access to the student version, otherwise I would be more frustrated.  I have had a look at the cadlearning website and they have 7hours of video tutorials.

it's $250 dollars for the tutorials (which is insanity!).  IMO tutorials should be free.

but they have an option where you can pay $9.99 for a day pass and i guess you could get through the videos. (bit of a push though and they don't detail how their "day" pass works. (12/24 hrs? etc etc)

here is a link if you want a gander.
