is calculation time really that slow ?

hi, i am very new to ecotect.
so far i have managed to do a irradiance analysis over the glazed parts of my building. i am joining a screenshot

i followed a tutorial - i went to Calculate > Solar Access Analysis - i then chose Incident Solar Radiation i told ecotect to calculate only selected objects (i selected some panels more or less randomly) - Daily Average over one day only, and i checked Direct Radiation only. I don't understand yet what shading tables are or do, so i left Use Existing Shading Tables

And for only 23 panels in the design, the calculation took about half an hour !? is this the speed i should expect ?

Hi,

There is an article on Natural Frequency that addresses exactly this issue:

  http://naturalfrequency.com/articles/shadingcalculations

My guess would be that the selected overshadowing accuracy was set very high. See Figures 13 and 14 for an explanation of what is happening.

Hope that helps...

Kind regards,
Andrew
