dynamic block properties table

I saw another poster had the same question

I need the same solution

I would like to have my attributes selectable from a drop down list or table

(autoCAD has been in need of this feature FOREVER)

does anyone have a workaround

you can define the block attributes from the block poperties table under dynamic

but can only do it once per block

Ideally I have the titleblock problem

where there are several drafters and several engineers working on drawings in different combonations

instead of typing their initials over and over and over again I would like to pick their initials from a drop down list---I mean that is what the digital age is all about right you know the freedom to work on your work and avoid the repetative tasks that drive us crazy

thanks all

Something like this, it does require a regen after you change the values

Yes----

1. But how do you do this-your example I mean

2. I have a title block already defined with attributes and would like to not have to type them in each time say
Drafter: (you pick this from the drafter list)
Engineer ( you pick form the engineer list)

yes that example is close I tried to email my response

but if you did not get it here is what I said

need to have a pick from list

By: (pick the drafter initials)

App: (pick the engineers initials)

here is the title block i was given to work with

I need to use this block as it is a standard

I tried your approach with the distance parameter then attatched the lookup

i kept getting 1" instead of a unitless lookup in that column

and when I enetered the text I wanted it would not display

are you in your example using a field?

The distance parameter is just there to populate the lookup table. I use a field for the value of the attribute (when you are picking the field use the Blockplaceholder), make sure the attribute is set as 'Preset' and 'Lock Position'.

If you change the values they won't show until after regen.

Sounds like the field is breaking down, how are you changing the value of the block, with the triangular lookup grip, or some other method.

When you click on the title block you should see this

And when you click the triangle you get

If all you are doing is selecting the lookup text option, there is not any need for any input properties.  The block can be simplified with the removal of the block properties table, the distance parameter, the added unassociated lookup and the distance input column of the associated lookup table.

Create a lookup for each of the attributes.  The populate the text options of the lookup table.  Then, for the default value for the attribute you have to use the 'insert field' option, then block placeholder and select the appropriate lookup.  The field should then say 'LookupString'.  A change of the lookup value will require a regen to show in the field.

Good catch, I just always assumed that a parameter had to be included. This will save me time in the future

Not 100%

I worked on it for a while then got really busy with other stuff

Thanks for all your help with this!!!

I just wish Autodesk was more responsive to

User’s ideas—I have suggested this to them a few times on past versions

But they seem to be more occupied with other products.

I'll keep trying but I am jamed up at the moment
