Hello everyone,
I was wondering if it is possible to extract data from CAD drawings, including some data in it. For example, if I draw a rectangle with a specific Length and Width, and then I extract data from it into Excel spreadsheet, is it possible to have 'Length' and 'Width' in that spreadsheet in the columns? I'm not sure what is it required in the CAD model in order to see the column data in a specific format and with the specific terms in it. Is it possible to use dynamic blocks in this case to help?
I'd really appreciate if someone could help me in this case.
Thank you so much in advance.

Behrouz

Hi Behrouz1980,
it is surely possible to extract data to a spreadsheet.
Use the "data extraction" tool.
Unfortunately the function won't read the length and width (or height) of "simple" rectangles .
But, if you build a dynamic block with the "distance" parameters and stretch actions applied to those parameters, you will be able to extract data from those parameters. The parameters should be re-known as "Length" and "Width", as their name by default would be "distance1" and "distance2".
The rectangles should not be rotated, so to not change the relationship between "length" and "width".
Hope this helps,
Giancarlo
