Can not apply a parameter

I am trying to use a linear parameter starting from the top to the bottom of
this hood fan. The dynamic block editor will not let me select any osnaps
associated with the line at the top of the drawing.

I have attached the drawings.

Can anyone shed some light as to what the problem may be?

Thanks

Bob

very odd, could not pick there myself, looked a limits etc but nothing jumped out at me, have added a vertical lenear parameter by drawing it first near the bottom and then dragging but hot point to the right place

hope this workaround helps

Hi pltully, Chuck,

Yes, that is what I am trying to do.

Were you able to "snap" to the linework at the top of the drawing to achieve
this? Did you change anything in the drawing to get it to snap to the
object?

My concern was more on why I could not use a snap to acquire the first point
rather than getting a workaround. That way I can be aware of what not to do
the next time I create a dymanic block or how to fix it. I guess the title
of my post may be misleading.

Thanks.

I was able to pick the top points without any trouble.
I used a linear stretch parameter set. with running osnap, polar & otrack turned on; used the bottom point of the exhaust tube for the first pick, then picked the top corner & using OTRACK found the perpendicular point, then applied the crossing to the top of the tube.
I'm not very good yet with Dynamic Blocks so hopefully that made sense.

So I decided to take another stab at figuring out why I could not pick the
linework at the top of the block.

I thought I had flattened all of the linework so that they all had an
elevation (Z) of zero. I even listed the polyline that is in question and
it also said it was zero.

It seems that it was not. My units was set to architectural and the
precision was set too low to reflect that it had an elevation of -.0012. I
found this out my changing my units to decimal and changing the precision to
5 decimal places.

It also appeas that you cannot use the "flatten" command on a LWPOLYLINE to
change all of it's vertices to an eleavtion of zero.

So the fix was to explode the ployline then use the "flatten" command. (you
can also select all the objects and change the 'Z" value in the properties
pallette).

Now you can selct the linework as the first point when adding a parameter.
