Volo View 3.0 and Windows 98

Hello,

I have a client that is trying to install Volo View on his Windows 98 (SE?)
computer. Apparently the install fails with an error. Also a message
stating that it needs the "ANSI version of ATL.dll"to run. Does anyone have
any ideas on how I can get the install to work and where to find the ANSI
version of ATL?

Thanks in advance,

Doug Cochran

It does not really work in Win98: see the 'limitation' alluded to on this
page (FYI, R2004 does not run on Win98/SE):

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=3239139

"*These platforms are supported to the extent supported by AutoCAD® 2004
Autodesk Inventor® 7 for viewing of DWG, DXFT, IPT, IAM and IDW file
formats. "

Thanks for the info. According to the link, it does seem that autodesk is
deceiving or confusing the issue of Volo View 3.0 compatibility with Windows
98*.

I cannot second Dean's statement;

Volo View is officially supported on Windows98 and I just managed to
successfully complete an installation on Windows 98 SE. Users have to ensure
that the enclosed system requirements are met and all should be well. One
should note that the there would be no option to install the Inventor
plug-in.

System Requirements

a.. Intel® Pentium® II or AMD-K6® II based PC, 233MHz processor (minimum)
b.. Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home Edition, Windows 2000,
Windows Me, Windows 98 SE, or Windows NT® 4.0 (SP 6)
c.. 128MB RAM (minimum)
d.. 1024x768 video display adapter (recommended)
e.. CD-ROM drive
f.. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later (Microsoft Internet Explorer
6.0 or later for viewing Autodesk Inventor files)

Yes, there might be the odd problem with one of the Inventor plug-ins
(current ones are not supported on Win98 nor NT4), however, we are not aware
of any specific problem on Windows98.
