How to force the plot/preview to be plain B/W?

Hello!
It's been more than a year I face the same problem when trying to plot drawings on a b/w printer. Some of them can be printed without any problem (one should just go to Page Setup Manager, select "Modify", and change the setting for Plot Style Table from "None" to "Monochrome.ctb". Simple and clear. To my confusion there are drawings (even simple modifications of the above described), which do not allow to do that. When I open a combobox with styles the .ctb types are absent and replaced by .stb. When I select "Monochrome.stb", it does not have any affect on how a drawing is printed/previewed... it is still colored (or printed in the grayscale on a b/w printer). This is VERY inconvenient, since the plot in grayscale is not usable.
I replaced the TrueView 2008 with TrueView 2009... no difference!
I will greatly appreciate any help: we have hundreds of drawings and printing becomes a nightmare!
Thank you in advance,
Mike

A DWG file can be CTB or STB, never both at the same time.

STB require you to APPLY the changes to the file, you could try applying to
each layer in the LAYER manager (assuming the entities in those layers are
set to bylayer), that usually helps.

There needs to be a default mono display option that overrides everything,
but there is none yet. A couple of freebie and low cost viewers from other
vendors have this, if it's important, switch.

Dean, thank you!
It helped. There are still something in yellow 🙂 but it became much better - almost all drawing is b/w. Do you have any idea whether Autodesk is going to implement the b/w enforcement in the TrueView some time soon?

Hi,

I had the same problem.
It was some of the Annotations that had the color set to "Yellow". If I changed the color to "By Layer" it works as it should..
Maybe this will help you too...

Rikard
