How can I get the 'missing SHX files' dialogue back?

All,

I am using DWG TrueView2011. When I open a .dwg file, 'Missing SHX Files' dialogue pops out. I checked the box 'Always perform my current choice', and clicked 'Ignore the missing SHX files...'. Then .dwg opened, but all text information were not displayed. I closed the .dwg, and reopen again, but this 'Missing SHX Files' does not pop out again.

How to get this 'Missing SHX Files' dialogue back? Please see the attachment.

Thank you!

In AutoCAD it's the OPTIONS command's SYSTEM Tab, Hidden Messages Settings button.
Is there one in your DTV version?

  • I found a solution that worked for me.

Im using windows 7 PRO.

It looks like the settings are sotred in each user profile, so, the long and easy is to reload the user profile, or reimage the computer.

The short and easy is to delete the profile.aws file that is stored here:

DWG 2013

C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2013\R10\enu\Support\Profiles\Unnamed Profile\profile.aws

DWG 2011

C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2011\R8\enu\Support\Profiles\Unnamed Profile\profile.aws

If you have prevous versions installed, then probably you will need to delete the file in both folders.

If delete just the file doesnt work, delete all the contents of the Profiles folders for each version installed.

It would be nice if Autodesk includes a reset profile button in a future.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Thanks.

I did dig into the Registry a bit to see if there was a Key that could be changed to bring back the dialog but did not see any obvious candidates. Though this is likely where it is stored.

Maybe someone else here would know which to look for.

I don't think is in the registry.

DId you checked my previous answer?

This worked for me:

Delete the profile.aws file that is stored here:

DWG 2013

C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2013\R10\enu\Support\Profiles\Unnamed Profile\profile.aws

or here

DWG 2011

C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2011\R8\enu\Support\Profiles\Unnamed Profile\profile.aws

Probably you will need to delete both if you have them.

No it doesn't.

What did work was editing the file "%appdata%\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 2013\R10\enu\Support\Profiles\FixedProfile.aws" and removing this portion of the XML file:

/Profile/StorageRoot/AcApData/HideableDialogs/HideableDialog[6]/Acad.UnresolvedFontFiles

(your path may vary depending on what dialog you are trying to restore)

Use an XML editor, or if you don't have one, here is an online XML editor: http://xmlgrid.net/

Yes your solution does work, but you have to delete both *.aws files which are located in the Fixed profile & unanned profile. Thanks very much!

For file "%appdata%\Autodesk\DWG TrueView 20XX\RXX\enu\Support\Profiles\FixedProfile.aws" in section:

<HideableDialog id="Acad.UnresolvedFontFiles" title="Missing SHX Files" category="Missing SHX Files" application="" result="1002">

you have to edit by any text editor {result="1002"} to {result=""} - for any questions("Missing SHX Files"-window) or to {result="1001"} - for request the fonts.

CAD for MAC users: open "Preferences" go to "Application" tab. Click "Reset hidden messages" and choose OK. This will enable all hidden messages and will allow you to choose your preferred settings per hidden message.
