Controlling/Opening TV through code

Have a document management program that we use to open our autocad files and I wanted to add the ability for non-technical people to use the program to open our files but with TV instead of autocad.  Now I can do this by hard coding the path for TV but I have yet been able to find a way to open multiple files in the same instance of TV.   Windows recognizes AUTOCAD.APPLICATION and can open multiple drawings within the same instance.  It doesn't appear that TV is recognized in the same fashion so Windows tries to open up a completely new instance of TV each and every time.

Has anyone had any experience with this and have you found a solution other than to have the used close down TV each and every time?

Edit:  I am programming in both VB and VB.Net if this has any bearing on an answer.
