It looks like I need to triple check if the wipeout bug was fixed in the
"DWF Creator" for AutoCAD 2002 release. If you see it working then we have
a darn good clue.
As for image support in DWF 6 files (DWF Creator makes DWF 6 files): the
defaults for image handling changed from the older DWF versions. In the
older DWF versions images were resampled at a greatly reduced resolution.
This often lowered the quality of the images. Vectors were stored at high
precision and images were stored at low precision. In the old version you
had a slider that let you change the precision of the DWF and the slider
changed the precision of both image data and vector data together. You
couldn't independently control image vs. vector precision.
With DWF 6 ePlot drivers, you can now control the vector resolution
independently from the image resolution and you specify the precision in a
much easier to understand "dots per inch" on the virtual sheet of paper.
The default resolution for images has been increased, which makes the DWF
files bigger and slower out-of-the-box. The new default for images is
measured in DPI and is set to 400 DPI for both vectors and images. To
change this, go into the DWF 6 ePlot driver "custom settings" and lower your
image resolution to something like 200 DPI while keeping your vector DPI at
400 DPI. Images generally don't need anywhere near as much DPI as vectors.
200 DPI is often more than enough for the printed page when dealing with
images.
