pdf conversion to dwf , I think?

I have a simple black and white site plan on a 81/2x11 inch piece of paper. I want it in my dwg file as an underlay(dwf).

SO can I simply scan it on my small scanner and save it as a jpg or pdf and then convert it to a dwf  and then insert, underlay dwf, into a dwg file? Im having trouble with it.

Thank you for your question.

You can install Autodesk Design Review 2012 from this website firstly:

http://www.autodesk.com/designreview-download

Then, open your PDF file in ADR to save as a DWF file.

Now, you can insert the saved DWF file to the DWG file as underlay.

Ive tried all that. The problem nmay lie in autocad itself. When I insert the dwf into a dwg file all I get is a rectangle shape with a single line boundry. Im inserting it into a blank new dwg file with only the layer O established.

Maybe it is the Zoom problem of AutoCAD.

Have you clicked the view tool "Zoom Extents" to see the whole view?

I tried to attach a DWF file as underlay in AutoCAD, first only see the line boundary, but can display the file after clicking the Zoom Extents.

Please try it and let me know the result.

Yes Ive tried that. I set up dwg limits, zoomed extents, set up units as well. what I get is a rectangle witha line around it and blank image.

The problem might be .......I start with an 81/2"x11" black and white site plan and scan it with my small zerox copy machine into my docs. I can scan it too email, paint,or hp photo. tiff, bmp, jpeg, gif.        Ive tried a tif and a jpeg file type.

I am sorry that I am not familar with the AutoCAD.

Could you please post your issue to the AutoCAD Forum that may give you a better suggestion?
