Publishing DWF files is built into most Autodesk design applications,
including AutoCAD®-based and Autodesk® Revit®-based products, Autodesk
Inventor®, Autodesk VIZ® and 3ds max® software. If you are using design
applications such as Bentley® MicroStation®, Pro/ENGINEER®, or SolidWorks®
software, you can use the free, downloadable Autodesk DWF Writer. The DWF
Writer is a Windows printer driver, enabling you to create a DWF file from
any application by selecting the DWF Writer from the printer-name drop down
menu.

I hate to play the devil's advocate, but how do you write
3D DWF files using the DWF Writer? I do realize this is off
topic, as the original poster is wondering about multi-sheet
dwf's (apparently only 2d).

Bob,

There is a new version of DWF Writer: DWF Writer 3.
It includes both a 2D printer driver and a separate component DWF Writer 3
for 3D. Check the Autodesk site for DWF Writer for a new download.

The 2D DWF Writer intercepts GDI commands pretending to be a printer.
Instead of sending the 2D vectors to a printer, it captures them to a file.

The 3D DWF Writer intercepts OpenGL commands pretending to be a 3D graphics
card. Instead of displaying the 3D vectors on the screen, it captures them
to a file.

That's an interesting method you came up with. Will have to
check it out! Thanks.
