It has happened to us also. I wish I could send a sample drawing, but
federal limitations prevent me. Drawings that were nearly identical with
regard to # of PViewports/XRefs/clipped XRefs would go fast, and 1 or 2
would just chug. Didn't matter if we rebooted and ran just the one, it would
still crawl.

| Something is odd here. Since your files are big and since you can't post
50
| megs to a newsgroup, how about we use Buzzsaw ProjectPoint to get the
files
| to me. I haven't ever seen a 30 minute plot from Acad to DWF.
|
| I'll send a Buzzsaw invite to you and you can upload to my Buzzsaw
account.
|
| Since you have AutoCAD 2002 you can use the DWF Creator PUBLISH command
| (http://www.autodesk.com/dwfcreator). It generates DWF 6 files, which you
| said you aren't interested in. Even if you aren't going to use it for
| production, you owe it to yourself to check it out-- it really makes
| publishing entire plot sets far easier since you can literally drag and
drop
| entire directories of DWG files into it, set the print order, and then
save
| away the plot-project definition for future publishing. Once you've
defined
| your plot-project, making the DWF file involves a single click and you can
| walk away and let it churn on all 300 sheets from 40 DWG's or whatever.
|
| Expect a Buzzsaw invite email you can use to upload samples...
