DWF Half Size Line Weight Problem

I recently noticed a problem with the line weight scaling for half size plotting from DWF. My standard plot process is to plot my drawing (Plot command, from Layout) to a full size sheet using my full size pen table (CTB). However, I often am required to provide half size prints. To do that, I use Autodesk Design Reviewer to plot half size to a smaller sheet (11x17 with some overlap of the border into the margin) from the full size DWF.

I've received complaints that the contrast between thick and thin lines on my half size prints was not enough. So, I did a test and plotted direcly to a DWF at half size using a pen table with line weights that are exactly half the width of the full size pen table. Lo and behold, the direct to half size DWF prints has line thicknesses that are noticably thicker than the print reduced from a full size DWF.

Has anyone else seen the problem? Is ADR scaling the line weights by the ratio of the area (1:4) instead of the reduction (1:2)?

I'd like to avoid the hassle of printing two DWFs everytime I plot. Does anyone know of a way to resolve this?

Here is some info related to half sized printing with DWF files.

I appreciate the reply, but the article discusses the opposite problem (half size darker than full size) and says that ADR does not have that problem. Any other ideas?
