Installing NEW version don't REMOVE the OLD First?

I had the Publishing Extension installed, and the Express Viewer is
installed as part of the extension...Why didn't the old version 3.0.0.55 get
removed before updating to the newer version 3.1.0.78...I now have two
folders containing the Express Viewer files.

Thanks,
Chris Hutchinson

This is because of the way the viewer was bundled with the publishing
extension. The only way to remove the viewer is to un-install the publishing
extension.

The workaround is to install the new version to the same directory that the
publishing extension puts the viewer to. In this case you will have only one
set of files. However, in the future if you un-install the publishing
extension, you will loose the viewer files also. This would require you to
re-install the viewer.
