Express viewer and AutoCad

I take it the express viewer was made not to like Autocad? Since it can only view dwf's, and not dwg's. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to either save a file in autocad as dwf, or if there is a way to have the viewer read dwg's?

Thanks.

You PLOT in AutoCAD to DWF.
http://www.autodesk.com/voloview for a DWG viewer and printer.

Have you ever tried http://www.google.com as a search engine to find what
you need? Excellent tool, saves time.

Extract of the AutoCAD 2004 help file:

"Overview of Creating or Modifying a DWF6 Configuration File

When you create DWF6 files, you use a plotter configuration file that uses a
specific DWF6 driver model. Design Publisher uses only the DWF6 ePlot.pc3
plotter configuration file. You can use the default DWF6 ePlot.pc3 plotter
configuration file as installed, or you can make changes to it using the
Properties button in Plot. This invokes the pc3 editor, which allows you to
make changes directly to the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file. Although you can save DWF6
ePlot.pc3 files under other names for use with the Plot command, no other
name will work with the Publish command. Any changes you make to the DWF6
ePlot.pc3 file are used whenever you plot or publish DWF6 files until you
change the settings of your DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file again."

If you are sharing DWG files, you can buy Volo
View. It costs about $99. Sharing DWGs is sometimes hard because in addition to
sharing the DWG, you have to remember to share all of the other files that the
DWG depends on like other DWGs that XREF'd, special font files, and image files.
It can get quite messy. A DWF file on the other hand is very self-contained,
smaller in size, and is a copy of the original - not the real intellectual
property. DWFs can be viewed by AEV which is free. For R13, a DWF file is
generated by the DWFOut command using the WHIP ADI video driver. For R14 DWFOut
was still the command but layer information could be included in the DWF file.
For AutoCAD 2000 and layer, DWF files are generated using the PLOT command where
a DWF printer driver is specified. In AutoCAD 2004, you can use the Publish
command. The AutoCAD 2004 DWFs allow more than one DWG file to be included in
the same DWF file. SO you can see that DWF has evolved over time and has a
future with the free Autodesk Express Viewer.
