Cannot View DWFs in AEV (no problem in WHIP)

There were earlier reports from users unable to see their .dwf files in Autodesk Express Viewer, but they could be viewed without a problem using the WHIP. There was no satisfactory answer to this thread.
I have the same problem, the files opened in AEV without an error message, but present a blank window and zooming extents just shows the blank 'paper' background.
Even files that I have viewed successfully before in AEV, no longer displayed.
I had to check the .dwf files before transmission to a client and resorted to uninstalling AEV and reinstalling WHIP 4.
I have not changed my AutoCAD setup in any way. The dwf files were created using ePlot, some from AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2 and some from AutoCAD LT2000i.
The only thing that has changed on my system is that I upgraded from Netscape 4.7 to Netscape 7 for my default browser, but I still have MS Internet Explorer and have tried opening the dwfs from IE, which opens AEV with the same result.
Can anyone help, as apart from this fundamental flaw, Autodesk Express Viewer seems to be a useful program, particularly because of its small download size it is easy to transmit to clients along with the dwf files.

Post a sample of an errant DWF file in Customer Files section at
http://discussion.autodesk.com for someone to try.

DWF's produced by AutoCAD LT 2000 have the wrong
units for extents. As AEV pays attention to the extents defined in the plot info
structure, we are not able to see it correctly. The units that are actually in
inches are defined to be in mm. If you convert the DWF to an ASCII version and
change mm to in, your DWF's should show up correctly in AEV.

Here's a sample:

Produced by LT 2000:

(PlotInfo hide 90 mm 16.535433071
11.692913386 10.793762207 5.7937498093 5.7416832616 5.8991511788

  ((8.8456349551e-007 0 0)
  (0 8.8456349551e-007
0)
  (0 0 1)))

Changing mm to in
(inches) results in the right transformation being used and DWF shows
up correctly.
