Scaling objects - area

I have a PDF that needs to be to scale. There is no scale on the object within the PDF, but there is an area distinction (2.53 acres) for the object. I can trace the object, but have no reference point to scale one of the lines of the object to.

Is there a way to scale an object to a specific area?

Subject to the limitations in precision of tracing over something in a PDF image, yes.  Trace it with a closed shape such as a Polyline, and Scale that with a scale factor that is the square root of the result of dividing the actual area [in square drawing units, whatever you use for those] divided by the area of your traced Polyline:

(command "_.scale" TracedPolyline "" AnyBasePoint (sqrt (/ TrueArea TracedArea)))
