My Line weights are not showing up on my model space?

I've been using AutoCAD 2015 for awhile now, but just recently I've been having problems with changing my line weights. Everytime I try to change the thickness of one line, as I'm scrolling down the different line weights, all of a sudden there is a blue highlighted box on my model space and when I choose my line weight it doesn't change. Even though I have checked the display line weight box. I don't know what the problem is, it's quite odd.

What are you using to change the (lineweight) properties of the object?  The Properties Palette,  the Ribbon Properties Panel, something else?

A screenshot of the lineweight list and the mysterious blue highlight box would be helpful.

step 1: I choose the line i want to change

step 2: I went to go choose the line weight

step 3: the blue rectangle appeared, i choose my line weight and it doesn't change

Type PICKFIRST at the command line.  If it's "0", change it to "1"
