3d stuff would be a nightmare for me to design on paper because so much changes thru the desing process and in years to come. I find parametric programs better for 3d parts, but Im not gonna start a debate on which program to use.

going to redraw drawings that have already been started in CAD? Power failure
is a non-issue in our shop, we have two-hour UPS's. If the power is out longer
than that, it's too hot to work in here anyway.
