MAJOR ISSUE: July 2016 has made Fusion unusable - Please Help

So I am creating another topic since another one I made seemed to have gone completely unnoticed from "Community Managers" and Fusion360 employees.

Yesterday night (Friday night) Fusion decided to automatically update to the last version.

Up until that moment everything was fine. After the update, I CANNOT use Fusion. I emphasize this again, I can't use Fusion to work anymore.

There's 3 cases:

1) Creating a new scene and working in a new scene

2) Working on a previously created scene

3) Working on a previously created scene with mesh-bodies inserted in them (Imported OBJs in the scene)

In order :

1) Case 1, Fusion "works" OK but with MAJOR lag and performance issues. Everything which used to be very smooth now lags. My viewport performance has been significantly affected. Every operation now takes longer, a simple boolean takes x2 as long as it used to calculate.

2) It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to work on previous work-files. I have tested this on DOZENS of scenes I was working until yesterday so please do not think this is "scene" specific. I have tested it on over 30 scenes and they are all the same.

To give the best example, if on a flat-surface in an older design I create a round sketch

pic1.JPG

and I push-pull it down to create a boolean. From this step to

pic2.JPG

This step. Takes about 10 SECONDS. Whereas in the past it was no time at all and was instant.

Upon pushing "ENTER" to let Fusion actually perform the cut - the operation starts to calculate its result.

Based on the scene (I assume how big/small it is) this operation now takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 50+.

pic3.JPG

In the bottom right corner I can easily see this dude going from 1 and after minutes "2".. and so forth.

As you can see I absolutely can't work on anything with this performance.

3) Case 3, a case in which an older scene had a body mesh inserted in them.

The thing that stands out right away is that now where I inserted the OBJs in the scene now it's on the timeline.

These scenes have even WORSE performance than scenes from case 2. Practically ANY operation I perform takes Fusion x50 the time even from the already heavily crippled old work scenes.

Example: In a scene which up until yesterday evening was PERFECT - now I fillet a box with a sharp edge.
Upon  performing the fillet the bottom right of Fusion goes:

pic4.JPG

and

pic5.JPG

and

pic6.JPG

and after about 1 full minute, it's at 2% 🙂

pic7.JPG

a minute after it's now at 4%

pic8.JPG

after 30 mins it's now at 17% so I force quit Fusion.

Fusion is absolutely unusable, straight up I can't work on anything. I am baffled that this update has caused this major issue.

I have tried to clear the cache from the ? menu on the top right, I have tried to re-start the PC and run nothing other than Fusion.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Fusion.

I would like to be able to roll-back to the previous Fusion version ASAP since I am worried it will take you guys too long to figure out what's wrong, and I will be stuck without being able to work.
Could someone tell me how I could roll back to a previous version while someone can look into this MAJOR issue that occurred with the last update ?

@gavriilklimov

that hat is really crazy - something else seems to go totally berserk.

i had a set of issues and one was solved by completely removing fusion and All files the uninstalled did not remove and then creating a new fresh install.

could you try that?

what OS are you on?

I have already uninstalled and re-installed Fusion twice. I also cleared the cache from the top right (?) menu.

Nothing changed -

I am on Windows 8.1

On top of that, I have now noticed that if I try to do any change to old work files I had, and then save it, Fusion straight up freezes.

This update has completely rendered Fusion useless for me. It's absolutely insane. I can't do anything

@gavriilklimov

how how did you uninstall it its? Did you go back later to any installation folder to see if stuff was left?

I did this on is X and the fusion uninstalled is junk. It keeps 98 mb of data for settings etc.

So just uninstall and install will not work like in my case when old settings bugged the UI.

can you share a file so I could see how it opens here?

@gavriilklimov when you did the uninstall did you follow the instructions on this page.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

Mark

Edit, if you follow those instructions I'd add a reboot between the last step and trying to install Fusion again.

@HughesTooling Thanks for the link! Bookmarked it.

But this should really be taken care of with the uninstaller. We are in 2016 and not in the 90th computer technology era!

No, I just used the control panel. Uninstalling it with that method now.

However, when I reach the step " C:\Program Data\Autodesk "

I can't do that, I don't have any "Program Data" inside of C:

Do you know what this is about ?

I am trying now a full-uninstall apparently uninstall doesn't actually delete everything as you can see from the link below.

Let me try this one last step and then I could try to share a file.

EDIT:

It doesn't let me delete "Web Services"

webservices.JPG\

EDIT 2:
I was able to delete it by terminating everything connected to Autodesk in my processes.

Still have no idea about the "Program Data" folder tho

Hey man,

Trying to export the F3D file for you, however, just like pretty much everything else I try to do, Fusion freezes 🙂

fusionLUL.JPG

(this is after I deleted everything, re-booted, checked everything was deleted for good, re-booted again, and installed clean and fresh again)

Nothing has changed.

This is further evidence for me that the new update just messed up my Fusion on every front possible.

I let Fusion trying to export the F3D file for about 40 mins now, and it's still stuck. It's obviously not right...

this sucks terrible - you can also use A360 online to export files if locally Fusion is too cranky !!!

OK guys upon further testing nothing seems to work.

I have tried everything.

Fusion is officially completely useless for me as of now.

I really hope the devs release an update so it rolls back to the previous patch while they try to figure out the huge mess created by this last update

Hi @gavriilklimov,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing the issue. Could you try updating the graphics driver and switching DirectX 11 and DirectX 9 to see if that makes any difference?

graphics driver.png

Please try enabling "Limit effects to optimize performance" option in the Graphics Diagnostic as well.

limit effect.jpg

Also, could you attach a diagnostic log files to this thread? We are going the investigate the issue.

Hello @masa.minohara -

thanks for your reply.

First of all, I have already updated my graphics card to the latest driver and rebooted too.

Limit effects to optimize performance" was already turned on and I always have it turned on.

My viewport settings are also all optimized for performance (no anti-aliasing etc.)

I tried to run it at DirectX 11 and nothing changed at all.

Just to be clear, I have also followed the steps that Isaac described in his topic with the same problem I have.
I uninstalled, went through every folder, deleted everything connected to Fusion - re-installed everything, rebooted, put everything on performance etc. Nothing works.
This update has destroyed Fusion's functionality for me.

To show HOW BAD the situation is, I recorded a video. It is 6 minutes and 41 secs long.

https://vimeo.com/176904567

I simply try to extrude down a flat face from a design I was working on - that till Friday night was completely fine.
First if you notice, when I select the face, and I pull it down, it takes roughly 9 seconds which is a huge time, since before it was actually done at live speed.
When I then click "OK" to confirm the extrude operation, you can see on the bottom right corner Fusion starts to calculate the result.

As you can see it takes forever. I stopped recording at 6:41 - and only reached 24%. Yesterday this operation took 30 minutes to complete.

As you can imagine, between 10 secs delays to see preview of an operation, and 30 to 50 mins to perform an actual operation makes Fusion useless.

This is the biggest issue an update has ever created for me. Me and my team are stuck because of this.

Also my system status (FYI I have tested this on other 2 PC with different specs and the results are the same, performance is compromised)

spec1b.JPG

I have attached the log for you.

@daniel_lyall

hello Daniel -

while it's true that is slightly hot, it's not hotter than normal.

You have to realize that:
1) it has been hovering at those temperatures for months and Fusion has been working fine

2) As I mentioned, I have tested Fusion in my other 2 work PCs, that have different specs and different mobos and they all act the same. Even on my gaming pc with an I7, 980ti and 16gb of ram it  behaves the same.

@cekuhnen has tested this himself on Mac, and it took him over 2 hours to modify a simple component from the timeline.

The real issue here is the Fusion update, not the temperature of my mother board

Edit: As a reminder, creating new scenes in Fusion is "OK". it works and allows me to work.

The performance is not as good as it used to be, like 1.3/1.5 slower than before, but it's usable.

The performance issue that makes Fusion useless affects older files like the one I was working on until Friday which is now compromised (File from the video)
I have tested doing ANY operation on any of my older work files. From sketches to split bodies, from extrusions to combine - they all take anywhere from 30 to 60+ minutes.

Saving the file = insta crash

Exiting = takes anywhere from 20 to 30 mins

@gavriilklimov can you send me one of your files that is being bad, there looks to be a common thing going on what I have seen before, I would need someone's file who is having big problems to test

Hey guys,

I had the same problem with one of my projects, that I was working on. I didn't made a connection at that time between the update and the reason why Fusion is crashing on me every time I wanted to do a change to a filet or something. So, I started the project from the beginning 🙂

Anyway, I hope they will fix it very soon, because starting a project from the beginning because of an update gone wrong, is really discouraging 😞

Cheers / Ben

It sounds like you've done the uninstall but just to help anyone else the Program Data folder is a hidden\system folder so you'll need to allow viewing of hidden items.
