Box with Lid Workflow Question

Hello all,

I've been playing with fusion 360 for the last week or so, but this last experiment has me stumped.

I want to create a parametric set-up style box.  Essentially a base and a lid that scales depending on the dimensions drawn into the sketch.

sketch.jpg

(the base and the lid will have 2mm walls,  with a 1mm gap seperating them from each other so they could slide)

I'm grasping, but my thought was - create one sketch that is the dimensions for the base and the lid, then extrude the bodies out of that sketch.  I dont know how i'd be able to get the lid to always set on top though, and leave that gap at the bottom.

If anyone could walk me through the logic, or (even better) share a file that demonstrates the steps on a timeline - that would be fantastic.

Basically, you'll use Sketch, Extrude, Combine, Shell, and the Change Parameters tool.

Hi Keqing,

What an amazing video thank you soo much for posting it. The way you described you thought processes and how it related to F360 commands was superb.

Please do more my friend, these are the sort of vids that we need to learn not the same ol'  press this - extrude that.

That extrude from offset face is brilliant

Thank you again

Matt
